Third MTG Old Frame League

There are not many things that have gone well in 2020, but for those of us who enjoy the old school Magic the Gathering cards the creation and consecution of the MTG Old Frame League has meant a bit of solace.

November brought the Third MTG Old Frame League, that saw the then uncontested king of the format, John Longo, lose his first final against Karl Akbari who had already reached the semi-finals of the Second MTG Old Frame League.

In fact, Karl Akbari didn’t lose a single match with his Perfect Storm deck, defeating Longo in five games, overcoming, thus, a brutal match-up for storm: Stax.

The match featured, on the words of John Longo:

…an epic game 5 in which he [Karl] got all 5 Moxes, Black Lotus, Lotus Petal, Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Grim Monolith, and Tolarian Academy in play by turn 2.

The other semi-finalists were Jaime Cano and Raymond Mitchell, both with very innovative decks, as you can see in the pictures following.
